IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE TO MEETING WITH DOUGLAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON OPEN SPACE INITIATIVE TO AUGUST 23, 2022 AT 1:30
On July 6, 2022 you received a Newsletter from me about the importance of attending a meeting with Douglas County Commissioners at the Douglas County Government Offices, 100 Third St, Castle Rock. As explained in that Newsletter, there was an important meeting on August 9, 2022 to ask the Commissioners to support the protection and expansion of Douglas County Open Space.
The Douglas County Open Space Initiative Committee (DCOSI) has contacted me again to let me know about the new date of August 23, 2022 and if I would again ask Franktown citizens to join them, and citizens across Douglas County, to support our open spaces by attending the August 23, 2022 meeting with the Commissioners and ask them to include an extension of the already existing Open Space Sales Tax on November’s ballot for a vote.
As you may be aware, this existing tax is only .017 per dollar and the money raised goes to buying and maintaining historic landmarks and open land. In Franktown a couple of examples this money has supported are: purchase of the Hidden Mesa Open Space that is an over 1200 acre buffer between Castle Rock and Franktown; and, the protection and maintenance of the Grange, a historic landmark.
Please attend and support this important community initiative. We do NOT want this tax to sunset in 2024!
ONWARD TOGETHER,
Diana Love
