May 15 @ 6PM — Come SaveFranktown!!!

Hi Everyone,

The first hearing we’ve been working so hard towards, the Planning Commission hearing,** is on, Monday, May 15th at 100 Third St. in Castle Rock! The next one will be the Board of County Commissioners (no date set yet) where the final decision will be made.  There are only three things you need to do this Monday night:

1.  SHOW UP, BE THERE AT 6:00 AT THE LATEST OR EARLIER

2.  SIGN UP TO SPEAK UP (PLEASE LEAVE THE FIRST 12 SIGNATURE BLOCKS BLANK FOR THE FCC II BOARD AND STEERING COMMITTEE TO START OUR SIDE OF THE PRESENTATION).  THE EASIEST WAY TO SPEAK IS TO WRITE OUT YOUR SPEECH, TIME IT AHEAD OF TIME TO MAKE SURE YOU MEET THE TIME CONSTRAINTS, BRING 10 COPIES (IF YOU WOULD LIKE IT IN THE RECORD) ONE FOR EACH PLANNING COMMISSIONER AND THE COMMISSIONERS’ SECRETARY, HAND THE COPIES TO THE PLANNING STAFF BEFORE YOU SPEAK, THEN JUST READ IT TO THE COMMISSION.

IF YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE SPEAKING, JUST BEING THERE IS VERY IMPORTANT.  If you change your mind about speaking as the evening(s) goes on, after the last signed up speaker has finished, the Commission will usually ask if anyone else wants to speak.

-IF YOU SPEAK, HERE’S HOW TO START:

a.  STATE AND SPELL YOUR LAST NAME

b.  GIVE YOUR ADDRESS

c.  THEN JUST SPEAK FROM YOUR HEART

TIME CONSTRAINTS:   3 minutes for individuals to speak, 6 minutes for heads of HOAs and heads of other neighborhood organizations.  The Commission will hold you to this amount of time.

3.  If you sign up to speak, after you sign up JOIN OTHERS OF THE COMMUNITY ON THE PICKET LINE outside from 6:00- 7:00.  Hearing starts at 7:00. NOTE: IF YOU HAVE SIGNS FOR THE PICKET LINE, THEY DO NOT ALLOW ANY SIGNS IN THE HEARING ROOM.  PLEASE DON’T BLOCK ANY INGRESS AND EGRESS TO THE BUILDING WHEN ON THE PICKET LINE.  IF SOMEONE WANTS TO TALK TO YOU OR ASK QUESTIONS,  PLEASE STEP OUT OF THE LINE AND OVER TO THE SIDE TO TALK BECAUSE THE LINE IS SUPPOSED TO KEEP MOVING ACCORDING TO THE COUNTY.

THINGS MAY BE SAID THAT WE DON’T LIKE, BUT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE ALL STAY PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS AND CALM THROUGHOUT THE HEARING.  I KNOW WE ALL CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE HUNDREDS OF FRANKTOWN CITIZENS THERE TO SHOW OUR OPPOSITION TO THIS PROPOSED REZONING.  IF APPROVED, THIS DEVELOPMENT WILL DESTROY FRANKTOWN AS A RURAL COMMUNITY, AS WELL AS DEPLETE AND/OR DESTROY OUR WATER, NATURAL RESOURCES AND OPEN SPACE.  PLEASE REMEMBER THAT, IF WE DO OUR JOB AND HUNDREDS SHOW UP, THIS HEARING WILL GO LATE, AND WILL LIKELY GO OVER TO OTHER NIGHTS SO PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.  WE ALSO MAY HAVE TO HAVE PEOPLE WAIT OUTSIDE BECAUSE OF THE FIRE CODES .  BUT THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED THE COMMISSION TO SEE!

SEE YOU THERE!  ONWARD TOGETHER!!

For all the wonderful Moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow.

Diana Love
President
FCC II
